Humans of Japan

How would you describe Japanese? Humble. I would add they are disciplined but restrained, in both positive and negative way.

Too abstract? Here are a few examples. Japanese bow to you for almost every conversation; there is no ringtone in the country, everyone set their mobile to vibrate/silent mode, so they would not disturb others in public space; Japanese normally do not talk on public transportation, except kids and drunk people, who I found more ‘genuine’ in a way, they are just being themselves.

I was constantly wondering, what kind of people do the Japanese really want to be under the smiling and polite faces?
